For all his accolades and medals, there is no sign of Messi letting up any time soon. Saturday's thumping victory over Girona was a timely reminder of his abilities as he continued to lead Barca ominously towards the LaLiga title.
Before the Catalan derby, Messi had scored against 35 different teams in domestic competitions and he quickly made that 36 with a virtuoso performance at the Camp Nou.
To date, Messi has scored against 36 of the 39 different clubs he has played against. It seems incredible to think that there are three sides that have resisted the 30-year-old's talents and it is all the more suprising when you hear the names of the sides to have done so.
Xerez, Real Murcia and Cádiz are the teams in question. Messi has faced Xerez on two occasions but failed to find the net and his chances to do so have been limited since they rapidly dropped down the Spanish footballing pyramid and into the Tercera División.
Segunda B side Murcia also managed to keep Messi at bay the only time the man from Rosario faced them, but Barca ran 5-3 winners in the La Liga clash back in May 2008.
Finally, Cadiz - now plying their trade in the Seguna División - complete the list. Messi played 82 minutes against the Andalusians back in December 2005 at the Estadio Ramón Carranza but drew a blank.
