'The Telegraph': Chelsea to sack Frank Lampard

It's over. According to the Telegraph, Chelsea have decided to sack Frank Lampard as their manager and plan to confirm the news in the next few hours. The current alternatives are an interim, Thomas Tuchel or Massimiliano Allegri.

Frank Lampard's time as Chelsea manager has come to an end. The 'Telegraph' and 'Sky Sports', among others, report that the 'Blue' board have decided to sack the manager.

Despite the victory against Luton Town in the FA Cup, the club was fed up with the way the team was going and had lost confidence in Lampard's ability to put it right.

The news is expected to be officially confirmed in the next few hours. Already after the defeat to Leicester it was suggested that he would be forced to make the full squad for the next three games, but patience has run out before then.

After the huge outlay in the summer for players like Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, the demands were high. The team started fighting for the lead, but fell off and is currently ninth, eleven behind Manchester United.

In the last few hours there has been talk of Brendan Rodgers' interest, although it seems a long-term option, as does Julian Nagelsmann (RB Leipzig), the other favourite, according to the Telegraph.

Chelsea are considering leaving an interim coach in place or trying to sign Thomas Tuchel or Massimiliano Allegri, two others who Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskaia are very interested in.
