According to 'AS', there are several names being circulated around the Madrid camp in connection with Raphael Varane's replacement. There are four players who mark the current European field of football, and will do so in the future for years to come.
The big name for the summer is Matthijs de Ligt. The Ajax player has sparked interest, not only from Madrid, but other huge clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus and the competition for him is fierce.
A much cheaper and less contested option would be Mario Hermoso. After passing through Madrid's academy, he has been called up to the Spanish side after a good season at Espanyol. His main advantage is that he only costs 7.5 million euros.
Kalidou Koulibaly, after impressing for France in the World Cup and for Napoli in the Serie A, is another defender in whom Madrid have shown interest, according to 'Il Corriere dello Sport'.
Milan Skriniar, another name from an Italian side, has also registered interest, according to his agent.
Amidst all of this, Varane was the one to create such uncertainty over his Real future after not wanting to talk about it in an interview, despite being open to talking about Zidane's return.
