In a short interview published by ESPN, Matthijs de Ligt spoke briefly and concisely about his future. Manchester United and FC Barcelona are battling it out over his signing, not forgetting that Juventus, PSG and other big clubs are following him closely as well.
"Where do I see myself? Obviously the Premier League is a great competition, also the Spanish League.... I still don't know anything about where my future will be. The first thing are these two Nations League games, so I will decide later what happens," said De Ligt.
It is clear that he will not continue with Ajax. The Dutch champions have already signed a deal with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong and promise to continue making a lot of money with the young players.
In the last few hours, different versions of his future have come to light. The first thing that was published was that United had him almost convinced after making him a financially insurpassable offer. Sky have said on Sunday morning that the English club was withdrawing from the bid.
De Ligt has neither confirmed nor denied, but when he finishes his stay with Holland, he will make a decision.
