The owner of the Almería Turki Al-Sheikh has announced that he has already recovered from a "distressing illness" and that, in order to return the expressions of affection received, he will donate 200,000 euros to the Andalusian city for the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19.
"To the people of my beloved city of Almeria. After all your support during my distressing illness here I am. I have recovered and I want to return a small portion of everything I received, so I will donate 200,000 euros to buy the COVID-19 vaccine. The Mayor of Almería will help us to distribute it among the people of our city. You are in my heart," announced Al-Sheikh in a statement.
The Saudi Arabian tycoon took over Almeria in August 2019 with the aim of returning the club to the top flight of Spanish football. In recent weeks, Al-Sheikh has reported his presence in the United States for an illness whose nature he has not revealed.
"I am still standing and I will not turn my back, I will not give up. I won't hold on to life, but I don't like defeat and God is with me," published the owner of the Almeria at the time, who says he has recovered.
