Cristiano Ronaldo's overhead kick at the Juventus Stadium was one of the stand out goals of the 201718 season. Now teammates, Gianluigi Buffon recalled this Sunday the chat he had with the Portuguese after conceding that goal.
"After around 25 seconds of normal frustration at the goal conceded, I thought about what he had to me, something realy beautiful. And I asked him "Cristiano, how old are you? And he said to me 'it's not bad a 33 year-old, is it?' In the end, we both laughed," Buffon recalled.
This is what the veteran Italian keeper admitted this Sunday in his participation in the Festival of Sport in Trento, organised by 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', in which he expressed his joy for having ended up sharing the Juventus dressing room with Cristiano.
Cristiano scored the great overhead kick goal past Buffon in the first leg of the 2018 Champions League quarter-final for Real Madrid. The Spanish side went on to progress and ended up being crowned champions for the third consecutive season. They defeated Liverpool in the final in Kiev.
"At the end of my career I have had the possibility of playing with Cristiano, it's something special. It's difficult to grow if you don't play with the best and I wanted to add him to the list of great champions I have played with, "Buffon said.
"He's a polite man, he see it from how he behaves with the rest of his teammates. We are used to take two or three minutes in training sessions to speak and for me it has been a pleasure to meet him," he added.
Finaly, Buffon expressed his desire for CR7 to win another Ballon D'or in the coming years, because, he said, that would happen if Juventus won the Champions League.
