The Brazilian playmaker left Anfield in the January transfer window, completing his dream move to Barcelona, in a bumper £142million deal. However he may have been regretting his time of departure last night, as he watched Liverpool progress past Roma, the team that knocked his new side out of Europe, to make it to the Champions League final.
Coutinho, who competed with Jurgen Klopp's side in the UCL earlier in the season, is ineligible to play for Barca in the European competition this season due to his prior involvement, meaning he had to watch his side's humiliation in Rome from the stands.
However, despite Coutinho's mid-season departure to Spain, Liverpool have continued to sparkle back on English shores. In their first season in the Champions League under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have shocked Europe to make it to the final of the tournament.
The Merseyside club will travel to Kiev on May 26 and, in UEFA's eyes at least, Coutinho will be there with them. The Brazilian will be eligible for a winners' medal if his old side win the trophy, due to his involvement in the European competition earlier in the season.
Coutinho played in a total of five games in the tournament for Liverpool this season, participating in two thrashings (0-7 against Maribor and 7-0 against Spartak Moscow), and three draws (1-1 against Spartak, 3-3 and 2-2 against Sevilla). The attacker bagged five goals, scoring in every game apart from those against the Spanish side.
