Paul Scholes is not convinced by the signing of Edinson Cavani. The former united midfielder said that the Uruguayan isn't coming at his best moment and doubts what he can contribute to the club.
"In the past, of course, he has been a great striker. there is no doubt. But he is 33 years old and it seemed like he was about to retire. He didn't play much at PSG last season," Scholes criticised.
"Five or six years ago, yes, it would have been a great signing and probably would have taken us to the next level. But now I don't think it can take us," he continued, referring to what he expects from Cavani at United.
For the Englishman, one of the mistakes is to have signed him as a free agent: "With the strikers we have, he should have come on loan. If you have problems in attack, we should have signed a player on loan to overcome this difficult time.
"That's how I see Cavani and not as a 33-year-old signing a two-year contract. I find it very strange but certainly not him. He will love it, I have no doubt", he concluded.
