Neymar and Kylian Mbappe arrived at PSG after an investment of more than 400 million euros between the two of them, but the French side assumed that they had signed two goldmines. However, a quick glance at their annual economic reports show it's all not all gone to plan.
In this report, the club dissect their incomes and expenditures, and these show some surprising results. The club lost 14 million euros in income despite the arrival of their two new mega stars, and 13% less than the previous year. This will be nothing compared to next season, however, when the club are expected to rake in an extra 60 million euros thanks to their new shirt sponsorship deal with 'Accor'.
However, PSG's merchandising income grew this season, selling 55.3 million euros more stock than the previous year. In total the club brought in an impressive 540 million euros. The star signings have also boosted attendances at the Parc des Princes, with the stadium averaging 99% of seats sold each match.
Through ticket sales alone, the club have brought in 61.2 million euros, while 800,000 shirts were sold in 2017-18.
