Watford has a reputation for getting rid of coaches and it is not a normal thing. After Quique Sanchez Flores' exit, Nigel Pearson became the third coach this season; the fourth, if you count Hayden Mullins interim hours.
However, this team has also come a long way. It is true, Javi Gracia seemed to change this trend when he arrived in January 2018, because Watford responded with the Navarrese in command and he led his team to the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
However, the former Osasuna and Malaga man did not last more than a month and a half in this current season. With the team sunk, the board sacked him and brought back Quique Sanchez Flores, who lasted 85 days. After him, Nigel Pearson arrived, who hopes to recover some stability in a burning Vicarage Road coaching seat.
The history speaks for itself. With Pearson, Watford have had 13 coaches so far this decade if you count Quique's double stint, as he previously managed the club in June 2015 to May 2016. Since 2014, they have had 10 different managers.
The last coach who lasted more than a year was Malky Mackay, from 2009-2011. Since then, names such as Gianfranco Zola, Oscar Garcia Junyent and Walter Mazzarri managed with more misery than glory at a club who, this season, are fighting to stay in the Premier League.
