In 1992, UEFA put the English composer Tony Britten in charge of creating the Champions League anthem. This was inspired by Georg Friedrich Händel`s composition 'Zadok, el Sacerdote'.
'Zadok, el Sacerdote' was used to crown kings. After some adjustments, its solemn tune has managed to make the Champions League anthem one of the most recognised symphonies in the world.
