The UEFA Champions League semi-final matchups were decided on Wednesday following the completion of the quarter-final second legs. There was no shortage of drama as Tottenham scraped past Manchester City at the Etihad and Liverpool put Porto to bed away in Portugal.

Barcelona

The Spanish champions looked comfortable over both legs of their 4-0 aggregate win over Manchester United. Tuesday's 3-0 home win was a much improved showing on the gritty Old Trafford performance from a week ago as Lionel Messi delivered yet another breathtaking display. Barça will now look forward to a mouth-watering tie with Premier League leaders Liverpool in the semi-finals.

Ajax

The fairytale story of this season's Champions League, Ajax's young stars seemed unfazed as they picked apart the perennial Italian champions Juventus to book their place in the semi-finals. Against the odds, they produced a 2-1 win away in Turin which sealed a 3-2 aggregate victory. Led by impressive 19 year-old captain Matthijs de Ligt at the heart of their defence, they will face Spurs in what promises to be a very open European semi-final.

Liverpool

Jürgen Klopp's men impressed once again as they cantered past an inferior Porto with a 6-1 aggregate win. The Reds delivered a masterclass in counter-attacking football after Porto failed to make their first-half pressure count, and now they can start to prepare for an exciting tie with Barcelona as they look to complete a historic domestic and European double.

Tottenham

The final team to join the other three semifinalists was Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs. They progressed on away goals (agg 5-5) after a dramatic 4-3 defeat at the Etihad in a game which really had it all. Korean Heung-Min Son filled the attacking void left by talisman Harry Kane and Spurs will pin their hopes upon the clinical attacker as they meet surprise package Ajax in the semi-finals.
