Mbappe was 18 when he caught the eyes of the world. He played 44 games and scored a whopping 26 goals for Monaco. That attracted the eyes of clubs all across Europe.
The Frenchman had options to choose from and PSG were the ones who got him on loan initially. PSG then got their chequebook out and paid 150 million euros for him.
One of the clubs who tried to persuade Mbappe back in 2016 were Borussia Dortmund, a club who like giving youngsters a chance.
In comments reported by 'Kicker Meetds Dazn', the scout back then, Sven Mislintat, said "it was a shame" no being able to "reach an agreement with Mbappe when he was on loan at Monaco".
"There were many people in the race for him and we couldn't do anything. Stealing Mbappe was he on loan on Monaco would have been a tremendous bit of business," he continued.
In the end, Mbappe preferred to stay in his homeland and he became a great PSG youngster. He is now working on getting a new deal.
