The Champions League play-off round fixtures 2017/18

The Champions League play-off round draw took place today, giving us the following fixtures...

Champions route:

The Champions route gave us an interesting tie between Olympiacos and Riejka. The Croatian side were one of last season's revelations and they'll be looking to knock out the Greeks who have become a regular feature in the group stage in recent years.

It also threw up ties such as Hapoel Beer-Sheva V Maribor and Apoel V Slavia Prague which will see some of the black sheep of the competition face-off.

Qarabag V Copenhagen will once again give Azerbaijani football an opportunity to demonstrate its rapid development in recent years whilst Copenhagen will be looking to return to the sort of form that saw them qualify for the Champions League just a few years ago.

Finally, Celtic V Astana gives us the longest journey of any tie. Celtic will go into the game as favourites, but the Kazakhs have been improving well in recent years.

Olmpiacos V Rijeka

Apoel FC V Slavia Prague

Qarabag V Copenhagen

League route:

The biggest teams in the play-off draw qualified through the league route. The tie of the round promises to be Napoli V Nice, an all or nothing game between two sides who play attacking football and who proved to be two of the biggest attractions during last season's campaign.

Hoffenheim V Liverpool will see Roberto Firmino retrn to his former club as Jurgen Klopp looks to cement his side's return to European football's premier competition.

Furthermore, Sevilla were fortunate to draw the team that most would have wanted to face in Istanbul Basaksehir. Young Boys V CSKA and Sporting V Steaua Bucharest promise to be intriguing ties, with the Russians and Portuguese going in as favourites.

Sporting V FCSB (Steaua Bucharest)

Hoffenheim V Liverpool

Napoli V Nice

Young Boys V CSKA Moscow

Istanbul Basaksehir V Sevilla
