5 - Shay Given 

Shay Given had great prominence and impact within English football, playing for different clubs. His most relevant team was Newcastle, for which he made more than 400 matches.

In addition to Newcastle, he passed through:

1. Blackburn (where he started as a professional)

2. Swindon Town

3. Manchester City

4. Aston Villa

5. Middlesbrough

6. Stoke City.

He arrived at Newcastle in 1997, at the hands of Kenny Dalglish, the club's manager at the time. He competed for position with three other goalkeepers and soon took over.

In the 2011/02 season, he played in all Premier League games and was nominated for the competition's team of the year. In addition, he was called up for the 2002 World Cup.

4 - David Seaman 

He became notable for his performances, mainly for Arsenal. In addition to the Gunners, he played for Leeds, Peterborough United, Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City. He is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of English football.

He started his career at Leeds, but did not play an official game for the team. His official debut was at Peterborough United, where he stayed for approximately two years, playing 91 matches.

He passed through Birmingham City until he reached Queens Park Rangers, where he joined the national team in 1988. In 1990, he joined Arsenal to replace John Lukic. In the Gunners, there were 13 years and 13 titles.

To end his career professionally he moved to Manchester City, where he played for only one season, making only 26 games.

3 - Edwin van Der Sar

His career in the Premier League started in London, at Fulham. There he was responsible for feats such as the arrival of Craven Cottage's team in the 2001/2002 FA Cup semi-finals and the following season's Intertoto Cup title.

Despite Sir Alex Fergusson's wishes, it took a while for the Dutchman to reach Old Trafford. This happened in the 2005/2006 season.

For United, he won four Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, one Club World Cup, two English League Cups and three English Super Cups.

In addition, he had unforgettable performances, as against Chelsea, in the 2007/08 Champions League final, when he saved Anelka's decisive penalty and secured the title in Moscow.

2 - Petr Čech

In his first season at Chelsea, under the command of Jose Mourinho, it was incredible. Due to Carlo Cudicini's injury, he assumed the starting position and conceded just 15 goals in the Premier League.

For the Blues, there were several titles and the consecration with the conquest of the Champions League, in the 2011/12 season, against Bayern Munich, inside the Allianz Arena.

There were, in general, 15 titles with Chelsea, being a Champions League, four Premier League, four FA Cups and a Europa League. For the Gunners, it was a FA Cup and two England Super Cups.

1 - Peter Schmeichel

Peter Schmeichel is the greatest goalkeeper in Premier League history. The Danish archer was extremely successful within England, showing remarkable qualities under the goal posts. He stood out, mainly, with the Manchester United shirt.

The Great Dane, a nickname he won at Old Trafford, landed in England in 1991, a difficult year for United. However, in the following season, the national title came, in the first year of the Premier League.

The great season of his career, and one of the most important in United's history, was 1998/99. The Red Devils became the only English club to win the treble, that is, to win the national championship and cup and the Champions League.

Schmeichel was decisive in all three titles. The epic victory over Bayern Munich would be the archer's last game with the United shirt, as he would go on to Sporting after that.
