The French magazine 'France Football' will unveil this Friday their shortlist of the 30 nominees to win the Ballon D'Or. The winner will be announced the 29th November, as well as the Women's Ballon D'Or, the award to the best goalkeeper of the year and the best under 21 player of the year.
The list is developed by a committee formed by 180 journalists from all around the world. Last year the award wasn't given out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last winner was Lionel Messi, who won his sixth Ballon D'Or award in 2019, is the favorite once again in front of Robert Lewandoski and Jorginho, according to betting sites.
The list with the 20 nominees for the Women's Ballon D'Or award is developed by a committee of 50 journalists specialising in women's football. The only ever edition of this award was given to the American Megan Rapione.
The Kopa award, which is handed to the best under 21 player of the year, was awarded to Matthijs de Ligt on its last edition in 2019. The winner is chosen by a committee of 32 Ballon D'Or winners. The Yashin trophy, which is handed to the best goalkeeper of the season, was awarded in 2019 to the Brazilian Alisson Becker and the winner is chosen by the same committee that select the Ballon D'or winner.
