Erik ten Hag is the favourite to become the Man City manager when Pep Guardiola leaves. The Spanish coach, since he joined after leaving Bayern Munich, has achieved lots of success, although he is still missing that Champions League trophy. The board now have a hypothetical replacement in mind.
'The Telegraph' says that it is the current Ajax coach because of his great work at the Dutch club domestically and in Europe. The Champions League is fundamental because the money being spent at the Etihad Stadium is to try and win the European title for the first time.
Guardiola's Man City contract runs until 2023, so they still have plenty of time to decide whether he continues in the Premier League or moves on. He has yet to be in Serie A or Ligue 1. He has already been in Spain and Germany at Barca and Bayern, respectively.
Man City have always shown loyalty to Pep and firmly believe in his style of play. They have publically supported his style of lots of possession and control of the game and they have given him lots of big and expensive signings.
