Man United secured themselves Champions League games next season, with a win on the last day of the season against Fulham (2-1), which saw them finish 3rd in the table.
One member of the team who has been making headlines recently, is defender Harry Maguire, probably not for the reasons he would like. The centre-back has started only eight Premier League games for the Red Devils this season, and has seen his place in the starting XI go to players like Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelhof.
Despite his lack of game time, England manager Gareth Southgate still included Maguire in his squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, which caused a bit of a stir. The coach admitted that it was "concerning" that Maguire had played so little and acknowledged his place in the squad was under threat, especially if the defender didn't move this summer.
Now, United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken about the subject. In an interview with 'Stadium Astro', he called for fans to "help him and support him so that he gives his best version". Ten Hag added, "He's performing and we're happy with him".
However, former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand thinks that Maguire is dead in the water at the club. Speaking to 'FIVE', he said, "If he wants to resurrect his career he has to go in the summer".
"He cannot stay there and play second fiddle if he genuinely wants to stay as an England player and get back on track", the pundit added. Although Maguire is under contract until 2025, he may decide that he's had enough now.
