Marcus Rashford will miss Manchester United's Europa League quarter-final first-leg clash with Sevilla after suffering a muscle injury that is likely to keep him out for "a few games", the club announced on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old, who has scored 28 goals for the Red Devils this campaign, limped out of the 2-0 Premier League win over Everton on Saturday. However, his attitude is positive according to what Ten Hag said at the press conference before the Europa League meeting.
"He is optimistic and he has started straight on his recovery and his rehab. That helps him to get back soon. It's a few games. I can't give more details because we have to see how the injury develops," he said.
Anthony Martial is expected to replace the English striker in Thursday's match and the Dutch coach believes the Frenchman is 'ready': "I think he is ready to start a game, yeah.
"I think already against Everton he was ready to start the game. The advantage was also that we could bring Anthony Martial slowly back into the team, give him some minutes and get him used to games at the highest level, and highest intensity," Ten Hag added.
