TEAM NEWS: Lingard makes England debut, Rooney in midfield

Moments before the line-ups were officially announced, 'The Sun' released the leaked teamsheet which turned out to be correct.
England XI: Hart; Walker, Cahill, Stones, Bertrand; Henderson, Rooney; Walcott, Alli, Lingard; Sturridge.
Subs: Smalling, Forster, Rose, Dier, Keane, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Antonio, Vardy, Rashford, Townsend, Heaton.
Gareth Southgate's first England XI has certainly surprised a few. Here are some of the main talking points.
Lingard makes debut
The Manchester United winger is by no means a regular at Old Trafford and has been in and out of the first team this season. However, Southgate worked with Lingard during his time with the U-21s and clearly sees something in the international debutant.
Rooney plays in midfield
Despite failing to impress in a midfield role at Euro 2016, Gareth Southgate will persist with playing Rooney in midfield and will line-up alongside Jordan Henderson in the middle of the park.
Sturridge over Rashford
The Liverpool gets the nod over Rashford despite failing to score a single Premier League goal this season. Meanwhile, Rashford has three goals in five Premier League matches.
Cahilll keeps his place
The Chelsea defender's form has been somewhat indifferent, but has managed to keep his place in the starting XI. While there isn't a great deal of high quality competition in this position for England, many would have preferred Smalling at the heart of defence.
