Sunderland ban chants against the late Gary Speed

Several Sunderland fans uploaded a video on social media of them singing against the ex Newcastle, Sheffield United, and Everton player, Gary Speed, who committed suicide in 2011.

Stewart Donald, the owner of Sunderland, didn't hesitate in banning the chants at once, saying "they are unacceptable, unjustifiable, wrong, offensive and embarrasing"

"Seeing it has been shocking", he added as he was embarrassed by the actions of a section of the support. A deplorable gesture that he banned as the chants were widely criticised on social media.

Gary Speed played for Newcastle, Sheffield United and Everton before hanging up his boots and becoming the Wales manager before the tragically passed away in 2011.
