"Substitution drives me a little crazy"

Marc-Andre ter Stegen spoke about his substitution for the German national team, but considered that if he continues working hard, the opportunity will be able to knock Manuel Neuer off the top spot.

Except the period of the time when he was injured, the German goalkeeper has always been behind Manuel Neuer, it doesn't matter what level the other German keepers are showing.

One of the many victims of this situation has been Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The Barcelona goalkeeper is considered to be one of the best in the world, but has not been able to convince the national team of this.

In some ways it seems very surprising that he is nominated for FIFA's best goalkeeper award and that Neuer is not amongst the finalists. Despite all of this, the goalkeeper takes it with a mixture of good faith and resignation.

"I have set my priorities. I want to be successful and the main goal is to be my country's first choice goal keeper, but not at any price," the German said during an interview with 'T-online'.

He believes that having gone abroad has made him a better goalkeeper and he does not regret his decision: ""It is not easy, but patience is part of a football player's job. There are stages in which you have to wait".

Even so, despite the almost infinite patience he has, he acknowledged that it sometimes becomes complicated. "It makes me a little crazy. You do your best and you're not where you want to be," the keeper finished.
