Suarez gets injured, but Uruguay call him up

The Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, who went off injured in Friday's match against Athletic Club, leads the list of players for Uruguay for the friendlies v Costa Rica and USA. This games will be played on 6th and 10th September respectively.

The Uruguayan striker had to leave the field after 37 minutes because an issue with his leg and at the moment, the extent of his injury is not yet known. As a result, the Uruguay coach, Oscar Tabarez, decided to call him up

The list also includes the rest of the Uruguay squad like PSG's Edinson Cavani and the captain Diego Godin. 

The Inter Milan defender is also recovering from an injury, but it is estimated that he should be fit for the friendlies in September. 

One of the surprises in the list is the LAFC striker, Brian Rodriguez, recently transferred to the MLS side from Peñarol and who has been one of the revelations of Uruguayan football. 

The list also includes the young midfielders Rodrigo Bentancur (Juventus), Nahitan Nandez (Cagliari) and Federico Valverde (Real Madrid)

Maxi Gomez, who has recently joined Valencia, also makes the cut. 

This will be the return of Uruguay after being knocked out of the quarter-finals of the Copa America on penalties.

Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray-TUR) and Martín Campaña (Independiente-ARG).

Defenders: Diego Godín (Inter-ITA), José María Giménez (Atlético de Madrid-ESP), Sebastián Coates (Sporting Lisbon-POR), Martín Cáceres, Mathías Suárez (Montpellier-FRA) Gastón Silva (Independiente-ARG) and Marcelo Saracchi (Leipzig-GER).

Midfielders: Diego Laxalt (Milan-ITA), Naithan Nández (Cagliari-ITA), Lucas Torreira (Arsenal-GBR), Matías Vecino (Inter Milan-ITA), Rodrigo Bentancur (Juventus-ITA), Nicolás Lodeiro (Seattle Sounders-USA), Federico Valverde (Real Madrid-ESP), Giorgian de Arrascaeta (Flamengo-BRA) and Brian Lozano (Santos-MEX).

Strikers: Brian Rodríguez (Los Angeles FC-EE.UU), Jonathan Rodríguez (Cruz Azúl-MEX), Maximiliano Gómez (Valencia-ESP), Edison Cavani (PSG-FRA), Cristian Stuani (Girona-ESP) and Luis Súarez (Barcelona-ESP).
