We thought that bite involving Luis Suarez and Giorgio Chiellini in the 2014 World Cup match between Italy and Uruguay would not happen again, but we have seen it in an Indian Super League match.
We are talking about Edu Bedia who has become well known after this shocking incident. The former Zaragoza man, now FC Goa captain, had a bite of Chennaiyin's Deepak Tangri and he had a bite of him during a fight for the ball.
In the 96th minute, with the score at 2-2, Tangri went to head the ball with Bedia whoremained lying on the ground. That caused the Chennaiyin man to end up falling on the Spaniard.
When both were on the floor, Bedia had no hesitation in biting him on his side, just below the ribs. That caused Tangri to start rolling around in clear pain.
The Spaniard's bite could cost him very dearly since Chennaiyin have reportedly complained to the Indian football federation with video evidence.
Let us remember that Suarez was banned by FIFA for nine Uruguay matches and for four months from all footballing activity. Many now think that Bedia will get a historic ban after his shocking bite.
Edu Bedia took to social media after the game to deny he had bitten an opponent: "I want to clarify on TV that it looks like I bite an opponent player when there is only a small struggle and a gesture of anger, but never a bite. Maybe the images make things the way they are but Deepak Tangri knows what really happened," he said.
