The future of Luis Suárez lies at Atletico. He arrived at the Wanda Metropolitano in 2020 and, according to what has been shown so far, he has fitted in perfectly. The forward, however, could have renewed for Barcelona in spite of the fact that his time at the club seemed to be at an end.
According to 'TV3', there was a negotiation to extend his contract as a Barcelona player, but the Uruguayan made some demanding requests.
According to the mentioned source, the player asked Barca for four years more of contract, which would have linked him with the club until he was 37. Although Suárez has continued to perform well, his physical problems have progressed and Barcelona considered that they could not take out a such an expensive bet on him under those terms.
Nevertheless, Barcelona did consider renewing Suárez. The aforementioned media reported a two-season offer that the attacker was not too happy about and, therefore, all parties began to look for an exit route.
Suárez, has already scored five goals in nine games at Atlético, did end up signing a two-season contract with the 'colchonero' team, until 2022.
