Stones' future in the air

According to the 'Mirror', John Stones' future at Manchester City is in the air. The CB was expecting City to offer him a new contract which expires in 2022, but they still haven't made any moves.

John Stones was aiming high at Everton and Manchester City paid 55 million euros for his signature in 2016, but his performance and injuries have deflated the English CB's bubble.

When he signed, Stones signed a contract until 2022 so he still has 2 years left, but he is looking at it with some suspicion. According to the 'Mirror', the players' agents were expecting movements to renew, but City still haven't made them.

The aforementioned source explains that Stone's circle is worried and his future is in the air. The Englishman is the only fit CB. Kompany's departure in the summer and Laporte's serious injury opened the doors for him to start, but the Skyblues aren't happy with his performance.

In fact, with Stones' problems and the lack of replacements, Guardiola has used players such as Fernandinho and Rodri as centre-backs and has given opportunities to Harwood-Bellis and Eric García.

Guardiola has also asked for a manager in January and in summer more movements are expected; more obstacles to the continuity of a Stones that fears for his place at Manchester City.
