Many people think of Berahino as the archetypal young player who had bags of potential, but never applied himself to reach that potential.
Having just turned 25, it is crucial that the striker starts to show some of the form that saw him score 20 goals for West Brom in the 2014-15 should he get anywhere near to being the player many thought he could be.
Since the former England U-21 international last scored a goal in a competitive match in February 2016 for West Brom, his career has encountered many problems regarding his attitude, professionalism and fitness.
Despite all the negatives of the last few seasons, his new manager Gary Rowett thinks that he can kick on in the Championship this seaon, and justify the £12 million the 'Potters' paid for him.
"Saido has been really good so far, I think he's worked incredibly hard and has been as fit as people at the club have ever seen him." Rowett said.
"He's a player that has scored 20-plus goals in the Premier League and the drop down in the division might just give him that chance".
Even with this encouragement from his manager, Berahino is certainly not a guaranteed start, with Stoke boasting the likes of Benik Afobe, Mame Diouf and veteran striker Peter Crouch among their attacking options.
