It was reported that negotiations had stalled between Sterling and City earlier this week, though today it has been suggested that talks are set to get underway once more.
According to 'Sky Sports', Txiki Begiristain - Manchester City's director of football - will meet with Sterling's representatives again before the end of September.
The 23-year-old's current contract runs out in June 2020 and City will be hoping they can ensure his future with the club before time runs out.
Speaking to reporters, Pep Guardiola covered the Sterling situation.
"It's well known we're delighted with him and would like him to continue. My club knows my opinion and we share that. After that it is the club and the agent."
The Englishman signed for the 'Citizens' in 2015 for around £50m and has made 144 appearances for the current league champions.
