Jean-Luc Dompe put Standard into a 17th-minute lead with his second goal for the club in Brussels, but they were pegged back when Lior Refaelov finished past ex-Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes before the half-hour mark.
The turning point came shortly after half-time when Club Brugge forward Abdoulay Diaby saw red, and Standard eventually broke down the 10 men through Croatian striker Santini in the 88th minute.
