Ings has been at Liverpool for three years, arriving from Burnley back when Brendan Rodgers was still in charge of the side.
He has had a tough time in those three seasons though, seeing himself sidelined by two serious knee injuries that have kept him from ever really breaking into the team.
The 25-year-old has made his desire to leave the club this summer clear, citing a need for gametime, and Liverpool have reluctantly agreed.
However, the 'Daily Mail' report that the club's £20m valuation of the forward is unlikely to be met by Southampton, who want to pay around half of that price.
The aforementioned outlet state that the Saints aren't the only interested party though, with Crystal Palace also keen.
