Sad news in England. On Wednesday, a serious fire swept through the industrial area near St. Mary's Stadium. A major fire forced the suspension of the Southampton-Preston North End match, scheduled for 20:45.
Smoke from the incident billowed into the skies above the Saints' ground. It also forced the immediate closure of roads near the area. Firefighters and security forces were on the scene to try to put it out.
The fire's origin is unknown, but the stadium's surroundings were visibly destroyed. And, not surprisingly, the EFL was quick to suspend the Southampton-Preston North End game.
The home club assured that the date remains to be assessed soon. In addition, all tickets sold for this match can be used for the rescheduled match day 36 in the Championship.
