Son Heung-min's red card for the challenge that preceded Andre Gomes' horrific injury in Sunday's draw between Tottenham and Everton has been rescinded, the Football Association (FA) has announced.
The South Korean striker was dismissed in the 79th minute of the game at Everton after a challenge on Andre Gomes which left the Portuguese with a fracture dislocation to his right ankle.
The PGMOL initially defended referee Martin Atkinson's decision to send off the player for "endangering the safety of a player, which happened as a consequence of his initial challenge." However, television replays showed that the challenge by Son was no more than a normal yellow card offence and the injury was caused after Gomes planted his foot badly in the turf.
Pochettino said post game that the VAR on the day should have overturned the red card and that the decision was "unbelievable". Son will no longer serve a three match ban and will be available for Tottenham's next Premier League game which is at home to Sheffield United on Saturday.
Andre Gomes was released from hospital earlier on Tuesday afternoon after a successful operation on Monday. His club Everton confirmed this news in a tweet.
