It is obvious that the manager's opinion is key when it comes to footballer's leaviong in the transfer window in all clubs. At Man Utd, the 'Daily Mirror' reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked the signings of five players. Van de Beek's was already public knowledge because of a leak.
The rest are Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot and Anthony Elanga. This does not mean that all of them want to leave and that his coach told them it was not possible. Reports suggest that the coach told the board, either directly or indirectly that he would not like them to go.
Cavani was linked with a move to Barcelona until his agent denied his interest. At Barca, the number 9 spot was strengthened by Luuk de Jong. Martial was liked by Lyon, but he decided to stay. Dalot was on Borussia Dortmund's radar, but they could not reach an agreement. Elanga had some loan options available, but in the end, he stayed at Old Trafford.
It is therefore clear that Solskjaer wants to use them this season at Man Utd even if it is not as often. Secondly, the club have enough money to be able to keep them in the squad as well as sign star players into Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
