In a commanding performance in which Maurizio Sarri's men once again demonstrated their title winning credentials, Chelsea handled a potentially tough away trip with ease.
Their victory was made all the more impressive as star man Eden Hazard was missing from the squad, after failing to recover from a back problem picked up against Manchester United.
With only two days rest after their Europa League game against BATE Borisov on Thursday, Burnley could have been smelling blood ahead of the fixture, but the Stamford Bridge side's class shone through.
The Lancashire club though had the better of the opening exchanges with Kepa Arizzabalaga unconvincing under early aerial pressure.
However with 20 minutes gone Chelsea seemed to turn on their class and they were soon the dominant side.
Willian rattled the post in the 21st minute but within 60 seconds it would not matter. Barkley picked up the ball between the lines and sent through much maligned striker Morata through on goal.

The former Real Madrid man, selected to play over Olivier Giroud, made no mistake with the finish, shooting with conviction beyond Joe Hart into the bottom corner.
He had two further chances to increase the lead before half time, but sent one into the side netting after some brilliant footwork and was foiled by Hart with a volley.
In a frantic spell he and Willian were at the centre of everything. Morata went into the book alongside James Tarkowksi as he fell to the floor after a confrontation between the pair, while Willian was also rightly yellow-carded for a dive in the penalty area seconds later.
The score remained at 1-0 at the break and Burnley looked capable of at least staying in the game.
However in the second half Chelsea really began to kick on and left their opponents for dead. They extended their lead in the 57th minute through the lively Barkley, who again found himself free to drive at the home side's backline.
He pulled the trigger from 25 yards out and although there was a suggestion of a slight deflection as it traveled through Tarkowski's legs, but there was no taking away from the shot, which nestled in the far corner past Hart.
Willian repeated the trick only five minutes later, this time cutting in from the left and firing a shot in which saw the former Manchester City goalkeeper picking the ball out of the same part of his net.
At 3-0 it looked like Chelsea would settle for the scoreline but substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek had other ideas.

On for the injured Pedro in the first half, the England international added to his midweek hat-trick with another goal, this one coming from a corner.
A fine Hart save saw Oliver Giroud, who had replaced Morata, have a header tipped onto the bar and bounce out, but from the resulting set piece Cheslea got the fourth.
The ball fell to Marcos Alonso who's backheel took a deflection and fell to Loftus-Cheek, who made no mistake from close range.
Moments later the full time whistle was blown, signaling the end of another clinical Chelsea performance. The result sees Burnley drop to 15th in the league with eight points, while Chelsea are now second with 24.
