Jurgen Klopp has revealed Martin Skrtel is “a little ill” ahead of Liverpool’s hosting of Bordeaux, while Daniel Sturridge is in contention to start.
The defender, who scored the final goal in the 4-1 win over Manchester City, has the flu and is likely to be rested for Thursday's Europa League encounter at Anfield.
With Mamadou Sakho still recovering from his knee injury, the manager may be forced into a reshuffle at the back and Kolo Toure could enter the fray.
“Martin Skrtel is a little bit ill,” said Klopp at Melwood. “Mama is in a good way, but obviously he is not ready for tomorrow, so we might need to have a new idea [in defence] and we will see how we handle this.”
