Simeone, Koke, Griezmann, Herrera and Joao Felix all have COVID

After the Christmas break, the whole squad and members of Atletico Madrid's coaching staff had PCR tests, "according to LaLiga's protocol".

In those tests, Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Simeone, Koke, Griezmann, Hector Herrera and Joao Felix have tested positive for COVID-19. 

"All of them are asymptomatic and isolating in their respective homes, thereby sticking to the health recommendations," Atletico Madrid's statement reads.

The five have been ruled out of the Madrid derby against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday (16:15 CET), which is their match of 2022.

News which has surprised Atletico's club doctors as the whole team tested negative on the antigen tests they took after coming back for Christmas.
