Kieran Trippier, ex Atletico player and current Newcastle right back, has unveiled his experiences with Diego Simeone, saying that it "was pure emotion".
"There were times when I've been in bed, asleep, and he's called me. I've had random texts, calls from him talking about the game and that's where he is obsessed. What you see on the touchline, this is what he's is like every day in training", said Trippier during an interview with 'Radio 5 Live'.
"I've been lucky to be able to have worked with him because I've learnt a lot. He doesn't care how good you are or how big your name is, you have to run for him and if you don't you're off", he added.
After highlighting his toughness as a manager, the English defender also had words of praise for him after playing under 'El Cholo' for his short period at Atletico.
"I admire him. Everyone respects him because he respects his players. He has a lot of trust in his players. He worked with me one to one so many times and all of that made me mature as a person. Simeone has had on enormous impact on me", Trippier finished.
