Battaglia is one of the players who rescinded their contracts at Sporting, after the Portuguese side's training ground was attacked by violent fans. This means that the midfielder is without a club for the coming season, however he isn't without suitors.
Real Betis and Villarreal are both linked to Battaglia, as are Sevilla, although there does not seem to have been any concrete offer tabled as of yet.
According to 'Estadio Deportivo', Sevilla are looking for a midfielder to fill the gap that is expected to be left by the rumoured departure of Steven N'Zonzi. The Frenchman is heavily linked with Arsenal, and has apparently handed in a transfer request to the club.
Battaglia is, according to the aforementioned outlet, is one of Sevilla's top targets in the midfield area, and if/when N'Zonzi leaves, it seems they will begin an approach.
