One week before the Europa League quarter-final match against Roma, Sevilla informed on Wednesday that a first team player tested positive for the coronavirus.
The PCR tests carried out on the players, coaching staff, and the rest of the staff on Sunday, showed a positive in the results that were known on Monday.
The player in question has no symptoms, so he is in a good state of health. Following the established protocol, he is isolating at his home.
Sevilla also announced that, since the positive was announced, all the members of the club have undergone two new PCR tests: in the first, there were no positives; and the new results still aren't known for the second, so they will be notified on Thursday morning.
"Whenever the results of the second test carried out are negative again", the statement says. Lopetegui's men will return to training on Thursday afternoon individually and with all the applicable measures.
This situation may not lead to consequences in the Europa League match against Roma. The same as the contagion of the Real Madrid player Mariano Diaz, which is also unlikely to have any impact on Madrid's match against Manchester City in the Champions League.
