Setién to remain at Barca and backed by the squad
Before the coronavirus pandemic paralysed world football, Barcelona were top of the league and halfway through their Champions League last 16 tie.
Leaving behind the occasional stumble, Barcelona's performance under Setién is living up to expectations, the ex-Betis manager who arrived halfway through the season to replace Ernesto Valverde.
Three more than intense months on the Barca bench for a Setién, according to 'Sport', who has the squad's full backing, as despite being far away from the footballing level expected by the team, he has managed to win the player's and president Bartomeu's trust.
Hence the Catalan newspaper assures that despite what is happening during this period of confinement, as well as the expected return to competition, Setién will stay in charge of Barcelona next season. In fact, he is apparently planning the 2020-21 Barcelona squad alongside the club board.
In these hard moments of crisis and confinement in their respective homes, Setién keeps in contact with his players, taking an interest in the state of health of all of them and their families, as well as being very attentive to the training sessions that they are all doing by order of the Catalan club.
