Setién's 5 doubts

BeSoccer by BeSoccer @besoccer_com - 0 7,719

The new Barcelona manager, Quique Setién, will be in charge of his first game this Sunday (21:00 CET) against Granada. These are five questions that his debut with his new team raises.

Will the 4-3-3 change?

During his presentation, Setién made it clear that although his philosophy of play is non-negotiable, it can sometimes vary, and he hinted that he might try a 4-4-2. He has also used a system with three CBs in other teams that he has managed, so with him, the 4-3-3 could change

How will he make up for Luis Suarez's injury?

Barça only have one number '9' and Setién will not be able to use him for the next four months. While waiting to decide whether to sign another striker in the winter market, the new Barca manager will have to solve the problem Luis Suarez's injury has caused in the next matches. At the moment, he has called up Barca B's strikers Abel Ruiz and Alejandro Marqués to train with the first team.

Will he give game time to Riqui Puig?

Valverde didn't play him much, but Setién called him up to train with the first team from day one, and Riqui Puig is already in first-team dynamics. With Frenkie de Jong suspended, he could be in the squad against Granada.

Will he press after losing the ball?

One of the problems with Valverde's team is that they were slowly losing their ability to exert pressure after losing the ball. Quique Setién wants his teams to be intense and press, and that happens by recovering the high pressing that characterized Guardiola's successful Barca.

How will he manage the team's 'Messidependence'?

Setién has always declared himself an unconditional fan of Messi, but on the first day, he warned the Argentinean star that, despite his admiration for him, everyone should be in position. The management of the 'Messidependence' and fitting him into the new formation seems to be fundamental so that Setién's project is successful.
