The Camp Nou board are busy working on offering out new deals and one of the player which is pending is Sergi Roberto. Barcelona have already made the player an offer, but his response was a 'no'.
'Marca' claim that the sporting board made him an offer. The new deal would keep him at the club until 2024, and he would be earning the same as he is now.
This proposition did not fit well with Sergi Roberto, and he is thought to have rejected it, according to the mentioned source. After several conversations between the midfielder's agent, Jose Maria Orobitg, and the club, there has been no agreement. They will therefore have to sit down again until they get somewhere.
Barca are not rushing to close a deal. The January transfer window is shut, meaning they would not be able to officialse a new contract until summer, which gives them time.
Xavi is taking it in his own hands to manage the player's renewal, as he wants to keep him for the 2023-24 season. Only time will tell if he achieves what he wants and he manages to tie down the player shortly.
