Sergi Roberto makes his sacrifice: he will lower his salary in new two-year deal

Sergi Roberto, whose contract ends in 2022, gave the all clear to lowering his salary, and didn't even have to think about it. According to 'Sport', he accepted to renew his contract for two more years with a significant wage cut. All to help out the club.

The Catalan daily reports that Roberto had received various offers, as a number of clubs from the Premier League and Serie A were interested in the right-back. But the player himself was always clear on the matter - if Barca were happy with it, he would stay at the Camp Nou. Now it appears that both parties have reached an agreement.

'Sport' estimates that negotiations are at an advanced stage, as Sergi Roberto will pen his new deal before the end of August. He hopes that this gesture will allow Barcelona to improve economically, given their current delicate situation.
