The helicopter crash that killed Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprahba and four others on 27th October is, according to keeper Kasper Schmeichel, "It is something that will stay with me, unfortunately."
After the emotional return of the Leicester City squad to footballing duties on Saturday, in which they won 1-0 away to Cardiff, Schmeichel detailed the events of the tragedy that will live with him for the rest of his life.
In a sombre interview with the 'BBC' after Leicester's win, Schmeichel said: "I was on the pitch and I waved him off. It is something that will stay with me, unfortunately."
The Dane continued: "I saw it all happen. It's not a nice memory but I've had all the support that I need. The club has been great and everybody has received the support that they needed."
Schmeichel was one of the large Leicester City delegation that travelled to Thailand on Sunday, in order to pay their respects to the late club chairman at his funeral service.
The goalkeeper also spoke of how he struggled to contain his emotions during the match at Cardiff, after witnessing the horror crash last week, which killed the chairman with whom he had enjoyed a close relationship.
Denmark international Schmeichel has been at the heart of the Leicester tributes for the beloved chairman; he shared a touching letter to the Thai businessman after his passing last Saturday.
"It was tough,"said Schmeichel . "But we wanted to do it for the chairman and his family. We wanted to be together about this, because we've all lost what feels like a family member. He brought everybody here and none of this - the memories, this family he's built, the culture he's instilled - would be here without him."
Leicester City players and staff will attend a few days of the week long service of Srivaddhanaprahba in his native Thailand, before returning to the UK on monday to resume their playing duties.
