The England winger left Manchester City in the summer after becoming frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities with the Premier League champions.
Since then, Sancho has shown real potential in his early season showings for Borussia Dortmund this campaign, scoring once and assisting five goals.
Sancho is among a group of highly-talented young English players, including Phil Foden and Mason Mount, whom promising futures have been anticipated.
All three youngsters were key members of England's U17 World Cup winning side last summer, with Manchester City's Phil Foden scoring twice in the final, and picking up the Golden Ball trophy for player of the tournament in India.
However, unlike his fellow young stars, Sancho decided that a move away was the best means to develop his fledgling career.
The youngster seems to have made the correct choice, after enjoying an encouraging start to his career in Germany.
England U21 head coach, Aidy Boothroyd had previously considered selecting Sancho for the fixtures against Holland and Latvia last month.
However, due to Sancho having only played 17 minutes of first team football at the time of the announcement, Boothroyd decided that the youngster would be more suited to joining up with the U19 group instead.
In recent weeks, Sancho has been an increasing presence in the Borussia Dortmund side, and as such, head coach Aidy Boothroyd is increasingly likely to include the winger in his squad for the Euro 2019 qualifiers against Andorra and Scotland this month.
An injury to Leicester City winger Demarai Gray, who has been sidelined for around five weeks, has opened up a space for Sancho in the squad.
There could also be another opening in the squad, as fellow Leicester player James Maddison has been touted to be called up to the senior squad for their Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain, after impressing manager Gareth Southgate with his performances in the Premier League.
Boothroyd is more than convinced of Sancho's talent, having watched his performances in the lower age groups of the England national team set up.
Now could be the ideal occasion to allow Sancho to step up to the next level, with preparations soon commencing for the U21 European Championships, which will be staged in Italy and San Marino next June.
Upon being asked about Sancho last month, U21 boss Boothroyd said: "I have to say I admire him. I admire anyone that wants to go out and try different experiences, new challenges and new things.
"There is no doubt that Phil (Foden) and Jadon are huge talents but they are not quite ready - yet."
If called upon, Sancho will look to carry his superb early domestic form into his performances for the England U21s, in a bid to continue his progression up the ladder to the top of the game.
