Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho has said that he hopes his move to Germany inspires the next generation of youngsters to believe in themselves at such an early age.
Sancho moved to the Bundesliga in August, as he found his way to the first team at Manchester City blocked by a whole host of talented senior international stars.
Yet the youngster has recently spoken out about his happiness that the move has been fruitful for his development, while insisting that he can be a role model for the next age group of stars.
In an interview with English outlet 'The Mirror', Sancho explained: "'I think I can be a role model to people growing up. OK, I'm only 18 but age is just a number. If you're good enough, why not? In England especially, footballers don't leave the country until they are at least 22. "
He continued: "I would say to anyone, 'Don't be afraid to follow me and make a move like this. You are here for one reason and that's to make it as a footballer. So when they come along you have to take your chances, otherwise you can't succeed.
Sancho concluded: "You can't be your best if you don't take chances."
Since moving to Germany, Sancho has been making a name for himself, scoring 6 goals and recording 9 assists in 21 appearances so far for Borussia Dortmund.
Thanks to the exploits of Sancho and fellow forward Paco Alcácer, Dortmund are flying high at the top of the Bundesliga standings, and are already 9 points ahead of reigning champions Bayern Munich.
