Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez, a La Liga referee from Murcia, will reach this Tuesday 100 La Liga games officiated during the match between Celta Vigo and Atletico Madrid at the Balaidos.
The match, scheduled for 22:00 CET, will be a special one for the economist from Lorca. The 36 year-old is the only referee from the Murcian region in the top flight.
However, there are several assistant referees from the Murcian region and one of them, Jose Gallego Garcia, will run the line for the 200th time in a La Liga fixture in the same match.
Sanchez Martinez, born on 3rd October 1983, was in Tercera for five seasons, Segunda B for four years and then started in La Liga in 2015. His debut was in a match between Sporting Gijon and Real Sociedad on 29th August 2015 which ended 0-0.
The referee has been on the international list since 2017 and he has done several 'El Clasico's.
Gallego Garcia, 43, will turn 44 on 17th August and he began his career in the top flight in 2010 in a 0-0 draw between Osasuna and Almeria.
