Fernando dos Santos, like many other players who play in the Ukrainian League - or used to play - has been unable to take the field for some months now due to the war with Russia. He, in particular, has found a solution by signing a five-season contract with Salzburg, which has become his new home. The figures are not official, but international press reports indicate that the transfer fee has been around six million euros.
The Austrian club has now officially confirmed the transfer, but will have to wait until the summer to register him. In the meantime, the Brazilian will train as a member of the squad, so he will have plenty of time in the squad for when his coach is able to field him. The idea is to get him fit and gain the tactical knowledge he needs.
"I'm delighted to be part of Salzburg. It's a great club that shines year after year in the Champions League. The last few months have not been easy for me, so I am very excited to be able to take on this new stage. In the negotiations with the sporting director and the coach, I felt that they really wanted me here," the player told the club's official media outlet.
"This confidence is very important to me and I want to repay it. I am sure that I will quickly find my place in this young team and that I will play my part in next season's success," he added. He also posed signing his newly sealed contract, which closes an impasse of several months in his career for the war.
