The case of Hakim Ziyech and his failed loan move to PSG has turned the football world upside down, but it was not the only case.
Salernitana closed at the last minute the return of Simone Verdi, who plays for Hellas Verona but belongs to Torino. The three clubs had reached an agreement but the loan contract was registered late.
The agreement was reached at around at twenty past seven in the evening and the transfer window closed at eight o'clock in Italy. However, the paperwork was not registered with Serie A in time. Both parties argued that they had technical problems in submitting the paperwork.
Salernitana appealed to the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC) for the transfer to be formalised. Nevertheless, the FIGC rejected the appeal.
The 30-year-old has never had enough playing time in his professional career. The midifelder has had loan spells at Juve Stabia, Eibar, Carpi and Salernitana, where he played last season. But his return to the Italian club will have to wait.
