Southampton were outclassed at Wembley by Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals and bowed out with pride after an exciting cup run that lit up their bleak season. Second-half goals from Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata were enough to give the Blues a 2-0 victory and a spot in the final.
Southampton's focus has now switched to their league campaign. They currently find themselves in 18th place and four points adrift of safety. Saints' run in is as follows: Bournemouth (H), Everton (A), Swansea (A), Man City (H).
Talking about the upcoming South Coast derby, Maya Yoshida told the 'Southern Daily Echo': "We all know about the game against Bournemouth. It is going to be crucial for us. We have to make sure we get three points."
"It's a home game and a derby, we have to fight to stay in the Premier League. We've finished with the FA Cup and now we must focus on the Premier League and staying up," he continued.
"We need a good rest and (must) get ready to put in a performance... we need to play better," the Japanese international added.
Having won just five matches all season, Saints now find themselves tasked with the near impossible challenge of needing to win all four of their remaining games for ensured Premier League survival.
